Support FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

  • I can only get channel 1.
This would normally indicate that your memory card is either missing or not fully inserted. To fix this, power down the 520, remove the card and then reinsert the card making sure that it seats fully. If this does not solve the problem then check the connection from the pendant to the 520. Call or fill our the info request for further assistance.
  • When I edit one step it changes several.
This seems to be a common mistake. You are probably going to the step that you want to change, pressing the Enter/Change button, adjusting the position and then pressing SET. That is the wrong procedure to change one step. To do it correctly press Enter/Change, make your adjustments and then enter them by pressing Change/Entry. NOTE: When you press SET instead of change entry you are affecting the current step and all that follow by the amount that you adjusted.
  • It runs fine for several hours and then starts missing the handoff.
This would indicate that your robot is 'walking'. To fix this, make sure that the levelers are all set firmly on a surface that is clean and stable.
  • The robot misses parts occasionally.
Baring changes in the press or delivery the problem may be in your locator settings. The robot will repeat to the same position every time as long as you locate properly. Check to make sure that the location is correct, that the chuck goes 'Free' before moving forward and the it re-grabs the part before moving back. Check to see that the chuck has a firm enough grip to disallow slipping. Make sure that the part isn't shrinking too much or wobbling (to solve this you would need sprue holders on the chuck). Call or fill our the info request for further assistance.
  • The chuck shuts too soon or too late for the handoff.
This would be a problem that you can solve with the timer delays. With the robot powered up and in Manual mode; press the Channel button and Step - until you reach channel 0 and then press SET. Use the Tab button to scroll down to St Standby and use + Step - to increase or decrease this setting as needed. Then scroll down to Chk Standby and do the same. Call or fill our the info request for further assistance.
  • I enter the program and then it won't go back to the Origin or into Start mode.
Remember that with the Enter/Change button selected and the Enter light on you can program in your steps. When you are done programming you must press the Enter/Change button again to enter it into memory. Call or fill our the info request for further assistance.
  • I can't seem to get the timer delay to work in a channel.
This is a documentation problem that has been solved in the latest update of the manual, which is available on the download page. To set and use the channel Timer Delay select the channel that you want to use it in and press Origin. Now press the Timer Delay button and a 'T 0' should appear on the display. Use the + Steep button to increase the time by tenths of a second (there is no decimal on the display for this). When you reach the amount that you want (12 is actually 1.2 seconds) then press the Timer Delay button again and the display will not show the number. Now locate the position(s) that you would like to have it in. Press Enter/Change, press Timer Delay and press Change/Entry. Call or fill our the info request for further assistance.
